Working for an online music store has got me busy with either of the two things in my leisure time: singing/humming a song or listening to one. I had no idea I could get addicted to music so much until I actually fell for music that works like alcohol to me. Dangerously soothing and sweetly dreamy. But my escape to music is perhaps also because I am a chatterbox since childhood. That goes to show why I can never keep quiet.
And really, I just love talking to anyone about anything at any time. I was always famous for my chitchats and honestly, silence seems very weird to me. Stillness, calm, quiet – it is scary. So music is my elixir because it keeps my mind in some distant place while I am listening to it. Or I just move my lips and sing away to kill silence.
Practically, who doesn’t love talking? We were born to be social and we have survived as party animals. Nobody can give up on society and live in a creepy tree-house all alone. We babble and talk nonsense half of the times but this is the sole way to enjoy life without getting bored at intervals. But then, digitalization of everything has turned the talking thing into typing. So we love to text than call and email than actually travelling to see a friend.
Even here, we work online and prefer to communicate over the wires than face to face. We can sell many items like beauty products for women!
It pains me to even think of doing all my work on a notepad rather than a computer screen. Just writing down and updating our customers’ orders would take me days. But I would still love to talk to the customers rather than sending them automated emails and promotional offers. Communication in our complicatedly wired world has been so revolutionized that time flies but we fly even faster to get work done more effectively in the least possible time.
But one thing is for sure – computers have made work easy on both ends. Music lovers find less clutter and more information with timely updates while I get to work minimally too. And for my chatterbox fever, well…music keeps my mind off that while I am busy singing.
